At Promise House, we understand that most of the youth we serve have experienced complex trauma – a factor that plays a pivotal role in their future success. By recognizing that each youth’s past struggles are an integral part of who they are and how they behave, our staff can provide a trauma-informed environment and set the foundation for healing.
Promise House recently embarked on a 3-5 year journey to achieve certification by the Sanctuary Institute. The Sanctuary Model is a theory-based, trauma-informed, trauma-responsive, evidence-supported, whole culture approach to organizational transformation. The goal of the Sanctuary Model is to create a culture within which healing from psychological and social traumatic experience and adversity can be addressed. Given that the majority of our youth have experienced unimaginable trauma, the Sanctuary Model will help us create an environment where our clients can heal, greatly improving their ability to succeed in the future.
